Child Custody

When it comes to determining custody of a child, the courts will always rule in favor of the best interests of the child. Courts will analyze the extent of each parent’s involvement in raising the child, the moral standards of each parent, and the extent of the relationship between the child and the parent. Generally, the court favors the child maintaining some type of relationship with each parent.

Types of custody

  1. Physical Custody– Physical custody means you will maintain the right to have your child live with you. Physical custody can be awarded to one parent as sole physical custody or both parents as joint physical custody.
  2. Legal Custody- Legal custody means you maintain the right to make decisions about religion, schooling, medical care, and other important factors in the way your child is raised. Legal custody can also be awarded to one parent as sole legal custody or both parents as joint physical custody.

How can you get custody of your children?

We have had the opportunity to help thousands of people maintain an active role in the lives of their children. The question that we are most frequently asked is what is the best way to get custody of  the children. As much as we would like to give you an exact answer, there isn’t one. The court looks at multiple factors, and each one is very distinct depending on the situation.

The advice WE CAN give you is…. the best way to ensure custody of your children is to live the best life you possibly can, and focus on being a good example to your children. Make sure to take an active role in raising your children, and help make decisions regarding their education, religion, and health. If you are trying your best at these things, the court will see your efforts and decide it is the best interest of your children to have you in their life.
